The “Marbella Ambassadors Club” , is a promotional initiative developed by the Town Council to link the image and name of Marbella with renowned and prestigious individuals.
The Town Council is working with a long list of of candidates to set up this exclusive club which will incorporate a number of people with direct links to the town as well as others who may not have kept in touch so tangibly but who, nonetheless, remain associated as a result of their fame and importance.
With this initiative, it is intended that individuals who are well known in national or international, public, social, cultural, business and sporting life play a significant role in the development and dissemination of Marbella's image. To this end, they will be a key driving force in promotional events both within the town and outside of it. This will involve creating a permanent link between the ambassadors and local area and also with charitable and cultural associations.
The Town Council will pay tribute publicly to each of the individuals who join this exclusive club by accrediting their status symbolically as Goodwill Ambassadors for Marbella.

The first individual to join the “goodwill” Ambassadors' Club was the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, following his determined bid on behalf of Marbella in the key year of 2009 when it was named European City of Sport.
As a result of this initiative and having expressed clear backing for hosting top-level sport here, both the Olympic and International Committee (COI) chose the town to host various events supported by these organizations.
The Swedish actor, Dolph Lundgren, was named Ambassador for Marbella thanks to his connection with the town and his wide-ranging, successful professional career.
We are privileged that Dolph Lundgren is a resident of Marbella, as he could have chosen any other place to live. The Swedish actor has the perfect profile to be an Ambassador for Marbella as he is associated with the town and its international promotion.
The Town Council wants to involve people of national and international repute who love Marbella and consider it to be their own, as is the case with Lundgren.
The Swedish actor, his wife and children, have said that they feel really attached to Marbella, viewing it as a fantastic town where they can enjoy life to the full; not least the beauty of the Sierra de la Concha and the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
With regard to his living side by side with residents of Marbella, Lundgren highlights their warmth and hospitality, the fact that they love the life here; and, finally, stresses their commitment to the town, their love for it and the way they carry the name of Marbella with them everywhere they go.

Chef, Dani García, who will be promoting internationally the values of “authenticity and excellence” of the town he represents, has been named Ambassador for Marbella by Marbella Town Council.
The professional career and human touch of Dani García are the reasons why he was chosen as an ambassador. Dani has always been a great ambassador for Marbella with his connection to the town and the magnificent work that he has performed in the field of gastronomy. Henceforth, any success achieved by Dani García will be shared by Marbella.
The simplicity, intelligence and creativity shown by Dani García from the outset, was highlighted by the Town Council; for his part, Dani García, was grateful for their recognition, stating that his only aspiration was to be a chef and to make a good job of it. He also affirmed that he felt “very proud” to be a Marbellan and explained that “I have always taken the name of the town with me wherever I go and I'll carry on doing that”.
